A new study will look into the care received by children with acquired brain injury

10-26-2015

The Defensor del Pueblo announced that it is preparing a case study on the quality of the care that young people under the age of 16 with acquired brain injury receive from the health and education authorities.

The Institution wishes to know what specialised primary care, early rehabilitation and educational support and social inclusion measures minors with acquired brain injury have within their reach. It also wants to identify the main difficulties that they face in terms of rules and regulations, organisation and resources.

The aim of the study is to make recommendations to the authorities with powers in the matter.

In order to put it together, organisations representing sufferers and their relatives, relevant professional sectors, scientific societies and government departments will be consulted and the case study  “Daño cerebral sobrevenido: un acercamiento epidemiológico y sociosanitario” conducted by the Defensor del Pueblo in 2005 will be taken as a starting point.
